This rutilated quartz point was mined in Brazil in the 1950′s and shipped to Africa where it remained. In 1987 it made it’s way to Arizona where we purchased it and it has remained in our collection until now.
It has a smokey tone and the golden rutile imparts a lovely warmth. The rutile is like fine glistening hairs but there is a thicker cluster visible at the tip. There are some interesting formations visible on the surface of the right hand crystal face. There’s some minor damage at the tip and also at the right rear. This piece has good clarity.
It weighs approximately 260 grams, or just over 9 ounces. Rutilated quartz is getting to be very difficult to find, especially a piece in this size range.
